Rising, Falling

Rising, Falling explores the tension between faith and doubt. The four-winged figure draws from the traditional iconography of the Cherubim, guardian of the boundary between the human and divine. With their eyes closed and head turned away from the light, they appear to be caught in a moment of hesitation.

The figure hangs between the light above and the darkness below, leaving their movement of either ascending or descending uncertain. This ambiguity explores the space between obligatory faith and starting to question what you were taught to believe.
